About the artist
Terence’s exposure to the arts for community development and humanitarian aid started in 2012 with puppet and drama workshops for disaster survivors, refugees, and desolate communities in Southeast Asia. He ran art workshops in hospitals and senior care in Singapore before he took to painting to express the notion of community. Later he began recording the cultural environment of Pulau Ubin through various programmes and activities, when its villagers called him the Ubin Artist.
With the initial support of My Art Space, the Ubin Artist embraced painting as a personal craft, and has pursued oil paintings and mural arts on a personal basis.
Terence was the founder of Artsolute, a pioneering not-for-profit that put community well-being at the heart of its creative missions. It is a multidisciplinary outfit, focused on the arts as a means of empathy and innovation.
